Advancements in Treatment: Long-Acting and Digital Tools
By early 2026, the "therapeutic burden" for Italian families has decreased significantly due to the introduction of Long-Acting Growth Hormone (LAGH) formulations. Previously, patients required a daily injection, which often led to skipped doses.
Modern LAGH treatments allow for a once-weekly injection, providing the same growth benefits as daily shots but with much higher patient satisfaction. In Italy, these are often paired with Electronic Auto-injectors. These smart devices automatically log every dose and can sync with a mobile app. This data is shared with the hospital's specialized registry, allowing the medical team to see exactly how well the patient is sticking to their treatment plan and adjusting the dose based on real-world results.
